PWMA, in conjunction with the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, once again hosted the Family Office Symposium on 12 January as part of the 16th Asian Financial Forum.
With participants in-person as well as on Zoom, the Family Office Symposium opened with welcome remarks from Amy Lo, Chairperson of the PWMA Executive Committee, followed by a keynote speech from Christopher Hui, Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury of the Hong Kong SAR Government. This was followed by a fireside chat between Weijian Shan, Chairman and CEO of PAG, and Ronnie Chan, Chairman of Hang Lung Properties, where we learned about where returns can be found in a number of private markets across Asia Pacific.
Later, a panel of speakers discussed the continued value of diversification, across markets, public and private markets and different sectors. The symposium ended with a panel on the tax environment for family offices in Hong Kong and speakers expressed their optimism toward a tax incentive in the works for single family offices in Hong Kong.
Thanks to all speakers for sharing their expertise and we hope to see you all again next year!
