Apprentice Orientation

Jointly organized by the PWMA and the Hong Kong Monetary Authority, we hosted a breakfast and orientation session for all incoming apprentices on 17 June 2024. A warm welcome to the incoming class of apprentices participating in this year’s Apprenticeship Programme for Private Wealth Management! Around 50 apprentices, chosen from over 1,300 applicants, will get hands-on training and work experience at 17 participating PWMA member firms. The apprentice also had the opportunity to meet with representatives from the Hong Kong Institute of Bankers Cherry Chan , attendees from participating firms and apprentice alumni.

The Program provides training and hands-on experience at a participating PWMA member firm to undergraduate university students in Hong Kong interested in a potential career in private wealth management. University students will gain experience across a range of functions in Private Wealth Management, leading to a potential job offer upon graduation.

We are very fortunate to have our association’s chairman Amy Lo, and executive committee member Alex Ng, at the orientation. Their established careers and their perspectives on the industry , serve as a useful foundation for the apprentice to understand how they should prepare themselves for the program and to enter the industry. Our CEO Vivien Khoo also moderated a session with several apprentices and apprentice alumni sharing practical advice on how to make the most out of the program.

Thank you as always to the Hong Kong Monetary Authority for their support as co-organizers of the Programme. We are looking forward to spending the summer with the apprenticeship group and hope the experience will be enjoyable and fruitful.
