This summer, around 30 students from the Pilot Apprenticeship Programme for Private Wealth Management joined a community service program entitled “A Joint-university Mentorship Journey for Ethnic Minorities Students” on four Saturdays. Initiated by Connextiar, this program aimed to raise their awareness about the importance of diversity and inclusion.
In the program, apprentices connected with ethnic minority students in Hong Kong through various activities including sharing sessions, campus tours, ice-breaking games and sports activities. Speakers from different social, academic and professional backgrounds also shared with our participants their personal, academic and professional journeys as ethnic minorities or in other cross-cultural settings, including some of the challenges they faced and how they overcame them.
At the end of the program, we presented awards to recognize the “Best Mentor and “Best Mentee” and to thank everyone for their participation.
