PWMA co-hosted a webinar with Hong Kong Securities and Investment Institute on HKMA and SFC’s Joint Circular on Sophisticated Professional Investors (SPIs) with an great turnout of over 260 attendees. EY speaker Sam Farage first recapped the suitability requirements when dealing with SPIs, then Lawrence Cheung and Peter Stein joined in with our moderator Jennifer Hsieh to discuss how banks are coping with this new regulatory guidance by establishing new control procedures and finding ways to reduce implementation complexity. They also addressed the possible risks and pain points that banks may encounter during the process.
