The 2nd Hong Kong-Swiss Financial Seminar co-organised by the Private Wealth Management Association and the Swiss Bankers Association was held on 27 September 2018. The seminar, the first of its kind to take place in Hong Kong, was hosted by the Hong Kong Monetary Authority. Altogether around 90 representatives from PWMA member firms, diplomats, regulators and government officials from both Hong Kong and Switzerland as well as members from financial industry bodies in Hong Kong attended the event. Co-organising the seminar was one of the commitments contained in the MoU signed between PWMA and the SBA in January, 2018.
The seminar commenced with opening remarks from Mr. Vincent Lee, Executive Director (External), HKMA, Ms. Amy Lo, Chairman of Executive Committee of PWMA and Mr. Herbert J. Scheidt, Chairman of the Swiss Bankers Association. These were followed by two panel discussions. The first, on “Reinventing the Value Proposition,” focused on how Hong Kong and Switzerland each distinguish themselves as private wealth management hubs with the advent of the Common Reporting Standard and the growth of an onshore Chinese private banking industry. The second panel examined the opportunities for Private Wealth Management presented by the Greater Bay Area. The seminar was followed by a luncheon.
